Week 1 Predictions

GAME OF THE WEEK!!

Clemson at Georgia

The Tigers travel to Athens to take on the Mighty Dawgs! Todd Gurley hasn’t been healthy since week 4 of last season, but he’s healthier than Lance Armstrong sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber with an IV of Herschel Walker’s blood flowing through his veins right now. Dabo better bring General Patton and his famous tank battalion back from the dead because that’s the only chance they stand against Gurley & Co.  Clemson’s defense will be excellent, and Vic Beasley is set to show Jadeveon Clowney how the position of defensive end is played in the state of South Carolina. However, the loss of Sammy Watkins and Tajh Boyd will have this offense wondering where they shit last. This one will be much different than last year as the Dawgs will win, and the score will stay relevantly low. Expect a defensive duel as both offenses try to figure it out.  Dawgs win this one 31-21. The spread is Georgia (-7) and I’ll  take Georgia!

Texas A&M At South Carolina

Johnny Football is gone and so is Jadaveon Clowney, but Spurrier and Sumlin return, and this game officially kicks the college football season off! That should be enough to make 300 million Americans tune into the SEC Network on Thursday! Surprisingly, the Aggies defense should be the better unit on this team. However, A&M lost too much on the offensive side of the football to compete with the Cocks. Spurrier has only won 11 games in each of the last 3 seasons and the Cocks have started off with a win on Thursday in all three of those seasons. Cocky wins this one. SC 32-24. However, I’m betting on Texas A&M (+10.5) against the spread.

Florida St At Oklahoma St

Jameis was busy stealing crab legs this summer as the Cowboys were busy filling holes left by last year’s starters. Boy how I wish the Pokes could pull this one out in front of the raucous Stillwater crowd, but that isn’t going to happen. The Cowboys lost entirely too much to compete with the Seminoles in this one. Unless there’s a seafood market  right outside the stadium and T.Boone Pickens can catch Lameis in the act, this one goes to the Noles. FSU 34 OkSt 23.  I’ll take Oklahoma State (+17.5) against the spread though. Don’t underestimate the Stillwater crowd.

Wisconsin At LSU

This game is being played in Houston TX. Baton Rouge Louisiana is 272 miles from Houston and Madison Wisconsin is 1,147 miles from Houston. I expect the crowd to be wearing purple. I called for Wisconsin to have a down year in my pre-season rankings and I won’t go away from my predictions here. LSU has a ton of question marks on the offensive side of the ball after losing their leading passer, rusher, and receiver from a year ago. However, I like the Bayou Bengals because the defense will be flying around all over the field. Flash Gordon will have the worst game of his career come Saturday in Houston. LSU wins this one LSU 24-14! I’ll also take the Tigers (-6) against the spread.

Upset Special!!!

Miami At Louisville

Louisville is favored over Miami by 3.5 points right now. I’ve seen Todd Grantham coach defense and I expect Duke Johnson to have a heyday! Petrino will have the Cardinals rolling on offense by mid-season, but they won’t be there come Monday night! Expect Louisville’s defense to have their hands in the air looking at the sideline for answers all night long. Miami is ushering in a new QB but he’s a 4 star stud out of California and he’s got Duke Johnson to hand the ball off too. Miami’s defense will be stellar, led by All ACC Linebacker Denzel Perryman. Miami upsets the Cards to start the season. Miami 31- 28. Obviously, I’m taking Miami (+3.5) against the spread.
